Gondia District is located to the far east of the Maharastra State in the Vidarbha region bordering the States of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. It is richly endowed with nature and is also known for its picturesque lakes as well as abundant paddy cultivation.

The tourist destinations in the district can be classified in to different circuits mainly Widlife, Adventurous, Archaelogical, Heritage and Religious. The District also has Hotels with star facilities, one of them being from the Taj Group, which take care of the essential hospitality.

Nagzira wildlife sanctuary is located between Bhandara district and Gondia district of Maharashtra.

Gondia District is truly ‘The Essence of India’ and the District Tourism Committe has come up with a tagline of ‘Gondia-Essence of India’ to promote tourism in the district. The tagline aptly describes the rich cultural and natural heritage of the district thereby establishing the district as a mini-India wherin the tourists can come and experience the spirit of the Nation.
